Bókun Pricing Explained: Plans, Booking Fees and Viator Connectivity
Low percentages, no fee on Viator bookings, and a clear reason for both. From Bókun's own pricing page.
Bókun publishes its prices clearly, and they are among the lowest percentage fees in tour booking software. The more interesting part is where the fees do not apply — Viator bookings and offline bookings — and why. That comes down to who owns Bókun, and it matters most to the operators who sell heavily through Viator.
This page works from Bókun's own pricing page, updated in September 2026: the plans, where fees appear, what they add up to at different volumes, and what to weigh if Viator is a large part of your business.
The four plans
| Plan | Per month | Booking fee | Users |
|---|---|---|---|
| FREE | $0 | None on Viator | 1 |
| START | $49 | 1.5% | Up to 5 |
| PLUS | $149 | 1.25% | Up to 10 |
| PREMIUM | $499 | 1% | Unlimited |
Source: bokun.io/pricing, checked September 2026. FREE covers booking management and manual bookings for Viator sellers; selling online starts on START, which adds booking widgets, other marketplaces, gift cards, payment links and point of sale. PLUS adds agent booking areas, Zapier and an allocation manager; PREMIUM adds multiple companies under one account and priority support. Bókun states there is no 6- or 12-month contract, plans can be switched or cancelled at any time, and every paid plan has a 14-day trial without a card.
What is free, what is paid, and where fees appear
- No Bókun fee on Viator bookings on START, PLUS and PREMIUM.
- No Bókun fee on offline bookings — phone, email or in person, added manually.
- The plan's percentage on other bookings — your own website and widget, other marketplaces and Bókun's reseller network. Bókun describes these as "applicable bookings".
- Absorb it or pass it on. On any paid plan you can pass the fee to guests, and switch that on and off through the year.
Two details are easy to miss. Unlike Rezdy, whose percentage stays the same on every plan, Bókun's percentage falls as you move up. And the START plan includes 500 automated reservation emails a month, with unlimited emails on the higher plans — worth checking against your volume. Operators who keep their own booking system and use only Bókun's Channel Manager are priced individually, and pay a Bókun fee of 0.5% to 1.5% on Viator bookings.
How Tripadvisor and Viator ownership shapes the offer
Bókun is part of Tripadvisor, which also owns Viator; Tripadvisor acquired Bókun in 2018. That relationship explains the offer's shape, and it works in the operator's favour on Viator:
- No Bókun fee on Viator bookings.
- Free Viator submission checks — the checks Viator requires when you list products. Bókun includes 12, 24 or 48 a year on START, PLUS and PREMIUM, which it values at $348, $696 and $1,392.
- One-click import of existing Viator products into Bókun.
Viator's own commission is unaffected; these savings sit on the software side. Value the submission checks by what you would actually use: an operator with a handful of products that rarely change may need far fewer than the allowance, while one adding and revising products through the season may use them all. Bókun also connects to other marketplaces — its pricing page cites more than 2,600 OTAs and resellers — but the fee-free treatment is specific to Viator.
Total cost at different volumes
Assume $60 per booking and count only the bookings that attract a fee, since Viator and offline bookings add nothing. The fee is absorbed rather than passed on, and payment processing is excluded because every system charges it in some form:
| Monthly total | 50 fee-bearing bookings | 200 | 500 |
|---|---|---|---|
| START | $94 | $229 | $499 |
| PLUS | $186.50 | $299 | $524 |
| PREMIUM | $529 | $619 | $799 |
Because the percentage falls on higher plans, the gap between START and PLUS narrows as volume grows — from about $93 a month at 50 bookings to $25 at 500 — so at higher volumes the choice rests on users and features more than on fees. Every Viator booking you move into the mix lowers these totals, because it carries no Bókun fee at all.
Upgrading rarely pays for itself through the lower percentage. Moving from START to PLUS adds $100 a month and saves a quarter of a percentage point, so the fee saving covers the difference only above about $40,000 a month of fee-bearing bookings — roughly 667 bookings at $60. PREMIUM needs about $140,000 a month to pay its way the same way. In practice the reasons to move up are users, agent booking areas, the allocation manager and multi-company accounts, not the fee.
Passing the fee on changes little for guests at these rates: at 1.5%, a $60 tour reaches checkout at $60.90. That makes the pass-on option easier to use than with higher-percentage models, though whether it suits you still depends on how your price sits beside other listings.
If you rely heavily on Viator
For operators whose bookings come mostly through Viator, Bókun's offer is hard to beat on software cost: no fee on those bookings, submission checks included, products imported in one step. If that describes your business, it is a strong fit — our Bókun alternative guide says the same.
The considerations are about your strategy rather than the software. The fee-free treatment applies to one channel; bookings on other marketplaces and your own website pay the plan's percentage. If your plan is to grow direct bookings or spread sales across several marketplaces, cost the software on the mix you are aiming for rather than the one you have today. And whichever system you use, a business concentrated on one channel is exposed to that channel's decisions — a question of channel balance, not of any booking system.
Before choosing a plan, confirm:
- Which of your channels count as fee-bearing bookings, based on your actual mix.
- Which payment providers are available in your country, and their rates.
- Whether 500 automated emails a month on START covers your volume.
- How many Viator submission checks you realistically need each year.
Alternatives if the model does not fit
Among the models covered in this series, Bókun's published percentage is the lowest. Rezdy charges 3% on every online booking; FareHarbor has no subscription but a guest-paid booking fee most often estimated at around 6%. Our pricing comparison shows how to test any of them against your own booking figures.
Travelity charges $39, $139 or $399 a month for up to 5, up to 10 or unlimited users, with a 1.9% fee on bookings taken online and none on bookings you enter yourself. On direct bookings at matched team size, Bókun's published fees are lower than ours above about 42 bookings a month on the smallest plans, about 26 on the middle plans and about 186 on the largest, and Bókun charges no fee at all on Viator bookings. Below those volumes our smallest plan costs less. Beyond price, the decision comes down to how each system fits the way you work, so trial both on your own products before deciding.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Bókun cost?
Bókun’s pricing page lists a FREE plan for managing Viator and manual bookings, then START at $49 a month plus 1.5% on applicable bookings, PLUS at $149 plus 1.25%, and PREMIUM at $499 plus 1%. The paid plans allow up to 5 users, up to 10, and unlimited users respectively. Bookings from Viator and offline bookings carry no Bókun fee on the paid plans.
Does Bókun charge fees on Viator bookings?
Not on its START, PLUS and PREMIUM plans, where Bókun charges no booking fee on reservations made through Viator. The separate Channel Manager plans, for operators who keep their own booking system, carry a Bókun fee of 0.5% to 1.5% on Viator bookings. Viator’s own commission is separate and unaffected.
Who owns Bókun?
Bókun is part of Tripadvisor, which also owns Viator; Tripadvisor acquired Bókun in 2018. That relationship is why Bókun offers Viator-specific benefits such as no fee on Viator bookings, free Viator submission checks and one-click import of Viator products.
Does Bókun have a free plan?
Yes. The FREE plan covers one user and includes booking management, manual bookings and zero fees on Viator bookings. Selling online through booking widgets, other marketplaces and the Bókun Marketplace starts on the START plan. All paid plans come with a 14-day free trial.
Is Bókun cheaper than other tour booking software?
Its published booking fees of 1% to 1.5% are among the lowest in the category, and Viator and offline bookings carry none. Whether it costs less overall depends on your volume, team size and channel mix, so compare plans at your own booking numbers rather than on headline monthly prices.
Bottom line
Bókun charges $49, $149 or $499 a month with booking fees of 1.5%, 1.25% or 1%, and no Bókun fee on Viator or offline bookings. Its ownership by Tripadvisor, which also owns Viator, is what makes the Viator terms possible.
For Viator-heavy operators it is a strong, low-cost fit. For everyone else, cost it on the channel mix you are aiming for, check the plan limits against your team and volume, and trial it alongside the alternatives.
